Intellectual ability
Understanding how a person thinks, learns, reasons and solves problems using standardised cognitive assessments.
A thorough, respectful evaluation of intellectual ability and everyday functioning. Assessments provide clarity, validation, and access to the supports, funding, and services that make daily life easier.

An intellectual disability assessment looks at both intellectual ability and adaptive functioning — the practical, everyday skills a person uses to live, learn, and connect with others.
We move gently and thoroughly, gathering a full picture from testing and from the people who know the person best. The outcome is accurate, meaningful, and opens the door to the right support.
What we explore
An intellectual disability assessment looks across several connected areas, including:
Understanding how a person thinks, learns, reasons and solves problems using standardised cognitive assessments.
Everyday thinking skills such as language, reading, writing, understanding numbers, time, and memory.
Communication, relationships, and social judgement in everyday situations.
Self care, safety, routines, and independence at home and in the community.
A careful look at early development, milestones, and lifelong patterns.
Identifying where additional support may help at home, school, work, or in the community.

More information
We take time to understand what prompted the assessment and what you're hoping to learn, so the process feels personal rather than clinical.
We combine standardised cognitive testing with structured measures of adaptive functioning, drawing on information from the people who know the person best. This gives a picture grounded in everyday life.
Whatever the outcome, you'll leave with a clearer understanding and practical guidance on the supports, services, and funding that can help.
Assessments are conducted by registered psychologists using gold-standard tools.
We break sessions into manageable steps and adjust to individual needs throughout.
We help you understand the findings and connect with the right services and supports.
